The challenge for the Beaufort County animal shelter was to plan and con-struct a relatively small shelter for a small community with a very limited budget. Their old animal control building was in a shambles and replace-ment was essential. The new building plan contains a little under 5,000 square feet and will house 38 dogs and 26 cats. Even though modestly priced, the shelter contains nice cat display condos, separate puppy room, get acquainted room, classroom, attractive front lobby and private office plus a roomy kennel surrounding a landscaped courtyard.
